Facebook & Yahoo/Google & Twitter Connects

Facebook & Yahoo have partnered up to allow users share information site to site through Facebook Connect. This integration will take place throughout the first half of 2010 and allow users to share information, photos, comments on articles on from the Sports, News and Finance sites directly to your Facebook stream without ever leaving Yahoo.  Jim Stoneham, VP of Communities for Yahoo! says:

Yahoo!’s integration of Facebook Connect will provide you with richer experiences across the Yahoo! products you use every day, such as Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Answers and Yahoo! Sports. In the future, you’ll be able to choose where you want to update your status message – from destinations across Yahoo! – or directly on Facebook.

Just after the Facebook & Yahoo champagne toast, Google announced that they are mixing it up with Twitter through Google Friend Connect. Here’s how it works:

1. Sign in with Twitter

2. You are redirected back to Friend Connect site where you twitter name and photo are displayed.

3. Invite Twitter followers.

4. Tweet from your Friend Connect.

Seems like a bit of keepin’ up with the Jones’ and a lot of connecting across platforms with 2 sites that many of us visit directly regularly.  I am not sure how these will make our Twitter or Facebook experiences better but I am sure in time different apps will be added that will send us running to both Google and Yahoo to see what all the hype is about.

Will you use Yahoo/Facebook or Google/Twitter?
